Ever wondered what people would do for fun in a post apocalyptic world? Well now you can find out!
It’s 2023. After a global crisis and crash of the economy, people are left to scrape together any resemblance of a former life, and are crying out for a meeting place to experience a glimpse of their previous normalcy.
Welcome to the Richmond Yard.
No detail has been spared in this post apocalyptic community, from the nuclear waste barrel tables, to the camper style steel mugs serving delicious cocktails.
Admission to the Richmond Yard is free (woo!), however if you’re looking to immerse yourself in the full apocalyptic experience, you can hire one of the five themed trailers!
A $50 booking fee, plus a $200 bar tab will secure your trailer for 2 hours, including personalised service of all drinks and food.
Which brings us to the food and drinks.
Local restaurants such as Easey’s, Burn City Smokers, Uncle Jungs, Mamsita, Iron Bark BBQ, Chill Bro and 96 Below have crafted delicious food truck style menus, keeping with the post apocalyptic theme. Sample delicious burgers, Korean fusion style tacos, spicy chicken wings and so much more from some of Melbourne’s best urban restaurants.
Or for the post apocalyptic wineos like me, enjoy a great selection of boutique wines from the team at Handpicked Wines. There’s something very fun about drinking wine out of a plastic jar in public – come on, we’ve all done it at home when there’s no clean glasses in the house!
Be sure to have a taste of the Rosé – a favourite of mine!
The Richmond Yard is open every Saturday in Summer (Feb 20 is the final apocalypse) from 4pm till midnight.
Where is it? The car park of 55-67 Cremorne Street, Richmond VIC 3121.
Make sure to book a trailer for the ultimate apocalyptic experience – you will not be disappointed!
